Derelict Shoot

For a while now I have been wanting to shoot in a derelict/graffiti building to add an interesting background to a fashion style theme. I was told that there was a hotel near Burford that had only been semi-developed and would serve as the ideal location. So on Thursday last week I met up with Lulu Lockhart and we went to investigate. The hotel has been constructed over two floors and was in pretty poor condition which was perfect except for the fact that it was pouring with rain and the roof had holes all over the place. There was also an icy wind blowing and as there were no windows it was a bit like working in a wind tunnel! The best graffiti was on the 2nd floor which was fine except that there were no steps so it was a bit of struggle getting ourselves up as well as all the gear.

For the shoot I started with a few natural light shots and then as it get a lot more gloomy I used a single speedlight off camera. I like the fairly dramatic fall off created by the off camera speedlight which was perfect for this type of setting.
